Nelson Equipment Co., Inc. was founded in 1968 as a distributor for Clark Equipment, by Jack D. Nelson and is headquartered in Shreveport, Louisiana. In 1981, after the sale of the Clark forklift truck line, Mark K. Nelson restructured the company to focus on other aspects within the material handling industry. Today, we are a quality integrator of material handling systems and equipment with our primary focus on conveying systems and equipment, storage & retrieval systems and equipment, dock and door systems and equipment, ergonomic equipment design solutions, and engineered specialty solutions.

Nelson Equipment Company is a Louisiana Corporation with a staff that has over 100 years of experience in the material handling industry. As a Louisiana Contractor, we are licensed to install the material handling systems we design. Our Louisiana contractors license number is 24367.

Nelson Equipment is dedicated to providing better solutions to material handling processes for its customers. We are committed to providing quality solutions, on-time; and with the highest quality customer support and service available. Customer satisfaction is our ultimate goal.

Our capabilities begin in the conceptual stages with the layout and design of equipment with respect to product flow in a customer’s facility. Once equipment is selected, our own project management team will oversee the installation process with a trained installation and technical staff. We have trained technicians available to maintain all the equipment we provide. Our Material Handling Services Division provides 24 hour, 7 day a week support.

In addition to equipment layout, design, sales, service, project management, and installation, we also offer custom design and fabrication of specialty material handling equipment. We design and make equipment modifications and retrofits in the field on existing equipment that require these changes to benefit our customers ever changing needs.

Our Corporate Headquarters is located in Shreveport, Louisiana and we have a sales office in Baton Rouge, LA.

With many multi-million dollar systems installed and in service today, Nelson Equipment provides its vast knowledge base to identify solutions to any material handling situation your organization may have today. Keeping current with tomorrow’s technologies is accomplished through our continuing education programs that are provided through in-house training facilities, seminars, and vendor specific training.

As President of Nelson Equipment, Mark Nelson received his Professional Certification of Material Handling in 1989. He was presented the “Material Handler of the Year” award in 1990 by the Material Handling & Management Society for his contributions to the industry. Our company is a member in good standing of the Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association (MHEDA). Nelson Equipment was selected as small business of the year by the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce in 2004. In 2007, the company was awarded the Value Added Dealer Award by Material Handling Magazine. The company’s most recent recognition has come from one of it’s customers, Brookshire Brothers Grocery located in Lufkin, Texas. Brookshire Brothers awarded Nelson Equipment it’s Vendor of the year to their Distribution Division for the year ending 2009.
